Before finding wide recognition as the sensational group Lake Street Dive, 3/4 of that band and the little-known singer Vilray recorded the educational music of a reclusive man named Bailtrax. These recordings are available now for the first time.
BOOKSONTAPE or the Bailtrax Oral-Omnibus Keepers Society of Neo-Troubadours As Progressive Educators is a high-octane traveling classroom covering the breadth of all human existence and history in song. Its guiding light is the mysterious poet-professor Dr. Sandy Bailtrax who uses Wikipedia's 'random search' function to select subject matter for exploration by the band. In the words of Dr. Bailtrax himself: "My teachings, my poetry are the snails on the lettuce of the universe. They feed on reality and their by-product is more reality, digested and reduced to its component elements. I have come to realize that, after all, snails truly are Bailtrax. This work proves that if nothing else."
